Azalai! - Salt & Gold dates changed
The expedition has been put back until February to fit better with team schedules and solve visa issues. Stay tuned for further news.

Dates confirmed for Salt & Gold '09 (Azalai!). December 6th-22nd 2008. Plans in place for a film project along the way.

NEW Enduro Expedition planned
Following the success of Salt & Gold 08, Beast of Burden are planning a fly-in motorcycle expedition to the Mauritanian Sahara and Mali during December this year.

Each B of B project is unique, but expect challenging and unpredictable desert riding, an epic journey through stunning Saharan landscapes and a team-led expedition ethos.

Salt & Gold riders back in the UK
CONGRATULATIONS!! Kev, Tamsin, Gary and Nick back in the UK after sucessfully completing the medieval salt & gold trading route from Chinguetti to Timbuctu. Who needs the Dakar anyway? The team reached the fabled city on 31/01/08 after more than 3,000 kilometres of sand, dune and rock.

Salt & Gold '08 to go ahead
After consultation with the team and discussion with our contacts in Mauritania we have decided to continue as originally planned. The support team and bikes are currently in France and will continue South later today.

Dakar cancelled
Dakar organisers today announced the cancellation of the 2008 Dakar rally citing safety and security concerns. This will be the first time in the race's 30 year history that the Dakar will not run.

Expedition Entry forms available
Entry forms now available. Optional intinerary expansion to include cross country 'smugglers piste' to Timbuctu. Flights now run directly into Atar, cutting out the last remaining stretch of tarmac on the route. Sand, rock and gravel the whole way.

Expedition dates confirmed. Mauritania 2008 will run from January the 12th through to February 1st (UK to UK). The transport convoy will leave the UK on the 2nd of January and return on the 15th of February (est.)
